Hajime Sorayama's solo exhibition “Space Traveler” is presented across three venues in Tokyo: NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, NANZUKA 2G, and 3110NZ by LDH kitchen, from Apr 26 – May 30, 2023, with dates varying by venue. Exploring an imagined future beyond the physical limitations of humanity, the exhibition envisions a world inhabited by humanlike yet non-human beings. Through his signature robotic imagery, Sorayama raises questions about human intelligence, the body, time, and the possibility of artificial intelligence coexisting with humanity. At the main venue, NANZUKA UNDERGROUND, the artist presents a large-scale installation of new human-sized robot sculptures, his first video work created using CG technology, and large canvas paintings. Additional sculptures and paintings from the series are showcased at the other venues, alongside the release of a limited-edition “Space Traveler 1/6 scale” sculpture.
