장-미셸 오토니엘 개인전 《Black Lotus》는 2016년 2월 2일부터 3월 27일까지 국제갤러리 서울 K3에서 진행된다. 이번 전시는 한국의 연꽃이 지닌 문화적·종교적 상징에서 영감을 받은 조각과 회화 신작 10점을 통해 자연의 아름다움과 내면의 정신적 가치를 탐구한다. 대표작 《검은 연꽃(Black Lotus)》은 어두운 색채와 조형적 대비를 통해 연꽃이 상징하는 정화와 깨달음의 의미를 드러내며, 금박 캔버스에 석판화 잉크를 사용한 평면 작품에서는 동양 서예의 정신성을 현대적으로 재해석한다. 또한 《황금 연꽃(Gold Lotus)》, 《푸른 매듭(Blue Knot)》, 《홍색연꽃(Pink Lotus)》 등은 유리와 빛, 유기적인 곡선이 어우러져 환상적인 공간을 연출한다. 전시는 자연의 형상에 담긴 상징과 인간의 감정을 연결하며, 오토니엘 특유의 시적이고 감각적인 예술세계를 조명한다.
