The solo exhibition “Wonder Blocks” by Jean-Michel Othoniel is presented at Kukje Gallery's Hanok in Seoul from Mar 10 – Apr 16, 2023. Featuring new sculptures composed of mirrored glass bricks, the exhibition explores the relationship between material, form, light, and architectural space. Moving beyond wall-mounted compositions, Othoniel introduces freestanding sculptural structures that emphasize the independence and dimensionality of each work. Five large-scale sculptures are displayed in the Hanok's viewing room, while five smaller works occupy its bookstore, offering different perspectives on scale and spatial interaction. Reflecting the surrounding light through their luminous surfaces and distinctive colors, the glass bricks transform the traditional Hanok into an enchanting environment that invites viewers to experience the artist's imaginative sculptural world.

장-미셸 오토니엘 개인전 《Wonder Blocks》는 2023년 3월 10일부터 4월 16일까지 국제갤러리 한옥에서 진행된다. 이번 전시는 유리 벽돌을 주요 조형 요소로 활용한 신작 조각을 통해 재료와 형태, 빛과 공간의 관계를 탐구한다. 작가는 벽면에 설치되던 기존의 유리 벽돌 작업에서 나아가 스스로 서 있는 독립적인 조각을 선보이며, 한옥의 뷰잉룸에 대형 작품 5점과 서점 공간에 소형 작품 5점을 배치해 크기와 구조에 따른 다양한 감상 경험을 제안한다. 특히 인도 피로자바드에서 제작된 유리 벽돌과 주변 빛을 반사하는 미러 글라스의 특성은 작품에 신비로운 색채와 깊이를 더한다. 전통 한옥과 현대적인 유리 조각이 어우러지는 전시 공간은 빛과 색이 일렁이는 환상적인 풍경을 만들어내며, 관람객에게 오토니엘 특유의 독창적인 조형 세계를 경험하게 한다.
