The special exhibition “Soo-keun Park: Black Edition” is presented at the Gangneung Museum of Art from May 16 – Jun 25, 2023, featuring 20 woodcut prints from the museum's collection. Created as posthumous editions between 2012 and 2015 to commemorate the centennial of Park's birth, these monochromatic prints capture the artist's distinctive visual language through simplified compositions, textured surfaces, and scenes of everyday Korean life. Featuring figures, rural landscapes, and bare trees, the works reflect the warmth and resilience of ordinary people. The exhibition also highlights “Old Men and Women” (1958), Park's first publicly presented print, and explores his enduring longing for spring as a symbol of hope and renewal.
