“Color Balance,” a solo exhibition by Jung Jae Chul, is presented at Chungmuro Gallery in Seoul from Jun 27 – Jul 14, 2026. Exploring the contradictions and conflicts inherent in human relationships and contemporary society, the exhibition reflects on the delicate balance between opposing values, perspectives, and interests. Throughout his artistic practice, Jung has investigated the concept of contradiction, examining the tensions between individuals and communities, ideals and reality, and personal interests and sacrifice. Moving from his earlier figurative paintings toward abstraction, the artist now expresses these complex relationships through the interaction of colors, forms, and material textures. Repeated brushstrokes, layering, and erasure transform the canvas into a space of continuous negotiation, where conflict and harmony coexist. Through this evolving process of painting, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the meaning of compromise, mutual understanding, and coexistence in a world shaped by differences.

정재철 초대 개인전 《컬러밸런스》는 2026년 6월 27일부터 7월 14일까지 서울 충무로갤러리에서 열린다. 이번 전시는 인간과 사회 속에서 끊임없이 발생하는 모순과 갈등, 그리고 서로 다른 가치와 입장 사이에서 균형을 찾아가는 타협의 과정을 회화로 풀어낸다. 정재철은 개인과 공동체, 이상과 현실, 이익과 희생이 충돌하는 현대 사회의 모습을 오랫동안 탐구하며, 모순을 인간과 사회의 본질적인 특성으로 바라본다. 초기 인물 중심의 구상회화에서 벗어나 추상적인 화면으로 작업을 확장한 작가는 서로 다른 색채와 형태, 물성이 충돌하고 조화를 이루는 과정을 통해 대립과 화해의 관계를 시각화한다. 반복적인 붓질과 덧칠, 지우기 등 끊임없는 선택과 수정의 과정은 갈등을 조율하고 타협점을 찾아가는 삶의 모습과 맞닿아 있다. 이번 전시는 회화 속에 축적된 수많은 선택과 타협의 흔적을 통해 관람객에게 차이를 넘어선 이해와 공존의 가능성을 생각하게 한다.
