The solo exhibition “Youngwook Choi: Reflection” is presented at Soul Art Space in Busan from Jul 2 – Aug 25, 2020. Featuring approximately 15 works centered on large-scale moon jar paintings, the exhibition explores the artistic philosophy of Youngwook Choi, whose signature Karma series reflects on human relationships, memory, and the journey of life. Inspired by the traditional Korean moon jar, Choi portrays its softly curved form and delicate surface patterns as metaphors for the connections and experiences that shape individual lives. The subtle cracks and lines evoke the traces of countless encounters, while the restrained colors and quiet compositions convey a sense of warmth and contemplation. 최영욱 개인전 《성찰(Reflection)》은 2020년 7월 2일부터 8월 25일까지 부산 소울아트스페이스 제2, 3전시실에서 열린다. 100호 이상의 대작을 중심으로 15점 내외의 작품을 선보이는 이번 전시는 달항아리를 통해 삶의 위로와 성찰을 전하는 작가의 예술 세계를 조명한다. 최영욱의 대표 연작 《Karma》는 조선시대 달항아리의 소박하면서도 당당한 아름다움에서 출발해 사람과 사람 사이의 인연, 기억과 삶의 흔적을 섬세한 균열과 선으로 표현한다. 부드러운 곡선과 절제된 색채, 화면을 가로지르는 미세한 선들은 서로 다른 삶이 만나고 이어지는 관계의 의미를 담아낸다. 이번 전시는 작가 특유의 따뜻하고 고요한 회화를 통해 관람객에게 일상의 위로와 성찰, 화해와 명상의 시간을 제안한다.
