The exhibition “Moonscape” by Lee Jae-sam is presented at Mimesis Art Museum from Jun 17 – Aug 27, 2017. Working exclusively with charcoal for more than three decades, the artist renders natural landscapes illuminated by moonlight—waterfalls, mist, bamboo groves, and cornfields—against vast black grounds. By layering charcoal particles made from burned willow and grapevine onto cotton fabric, he creates dense, light-absorbing surfaces where moonlit areas emerge in sharp contrast. Rejecting Western linear perspective, Lee develops his own “aerial perspective,” constructing boundless fields without hierarchy, where every detail holds equal weight and time appears suspended in a non-synchronous moment.

전시 《Moonscape 달빛》은 미메시스 아트 뮤지엄에서 2017년 6월 17일부터 8월 27일까지 진행된다. 이재삼은 30여 년간 목탄만을 사용해 달빛에 비친 자연의 풍경을 그려왔다. 폭포, 물안개, 대나무, 옥수수밭 등은 검은 화면 위에서 강렬한 대비를 이루며 밤의 분위기를 형성한다. 작가는 서구식 원근법을 배제하고 자신만의 ‘공기원근법’을 통해 중심과 주변의 구분이 없는 화면을 펼쳐 보이며, 숲·폭포·물 연작을 통해 시간과 공간을 초월한 자연의 장면을 제시한다.
