The invitational exhibition The Flâneur, A Stroll through the City Comes to the Museum by Kim Hong Shik is presented at Seosomun Shrine History Museum from Sep 8 – Oct 11, 2020. As part of the museum’s first-anniversary series supporting established artists, the exhibition explores the figure of the flâneur—an urban stroller and observer—who appears within museum settings such as the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, and the National Museum of Korea. Through paintings and installations, the show invites visitors to become flâneurs themselves, reflecting on the museum as a space of power and consecration, or one of communication, sharing, and contemplation.

김홍식 초대기획전 《도시의 산책자, 플라뇌르》는 2020년 9월 8일부터 10월 11일까지 서소문성지역사박물관에서 열린다. 개관 1주년을 맞아 마련된 ‘중견작가 초대기획전’ 시리즈의 첫 전시로, 작가는 오래전부터 작업의 주제로 삼아 온 ‘플라뇌르(도시를 한가하게 거닐며 관찰하는 사람)’를 뮤지엄이라는 공간에 불러온다. 작품 속 플라뇌르들은 루브르, 오르세, 국립중앙박물관 등에서 사진을 찍고 전시실을 거닐며 작품 속 인물과 침묵의 대화를 나누기도 한다. 이번 전시는 관람객에게도 플라뇌르의 역할을 제안하며, 오늘날의 뮤지엄이 여전히 축성과 권력의 공간인지, 혹은 소통과 성찰의 공간으로 변모하는지 질문하게 한다.
