Tina Kim Gallery presents The Making of Modern Korean Art: The Letters of Kim Tschang-Yeul, Kim Whanki, Lee Ufan, and Park Seo-Bo, 1961–1982 from May 5 to June 21, 2025. Conceived in conjunction with the publication of the accompanying research volume, the exhibition examines the artistic exchanges among four key figures in the formation of modern Korean art.

Through letters, archival materials, and selected works, the exhibition traces how these artists engaged with abstraction in the aftermath of the Korean War, seeking new forms of modernity grounded in their historical and cultural context. Working across different regions, they shared a common commitment to positioning Korean art within an international discourse.

By following the intellectual and personal networks revealed through their correspondence, the exhibition offers a critical perspective on the emergence of Korean abstract art and its place within global art history.

티나킴 갤러리는 2025년 5월 5일부터 6월 21일까지 《The Making of Modern Korean Art: The Letters of Kim Tschang-Yeul, Kim Whanki, Lee Ufan, and Park Seo-Bo, 1961–1982》전을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 동명의 연구서 출간과 함께 기획되었으며, 한국 현대미술의 형성과 전개 과정에서 중요한 역할을 한 네 작가의 예술적 교류를 조명한다.

전시는 작가들이 주고받은 서신과 아카이브 자료, 주요 작품을 통해 전후 혼란기 속에서 추상을 매개로 새로운 현대성을 모색한 과정을 살펴본다. 김환기, 김창열, 이우환, 박서보는 서로 다른 지역에서 활동하며 한국 미술의 국제화를 공동의 과제로 실천해 나갔다.
