Taein’s ceramics are not paintings that reproduce real objects. Rather, they depict the passage of time from clay to completed ceramic, and the state in which that time is condensed. Through ceramics, the artist captures the process of taking form and fading away, revealing on the surface the formation of life embedded within.

This process resembles human life. From being born into nothingness, to being shaped through relationships with others, and gradually becoming a singular existence through the accumulation of time. The ceramics portrayed by the artist unfold as a metaphor for these transformations of life. Just as clay gains form and hardens through fire, existence too develops its own texture through time and experience.

The title “ceramic story” is not merely a naming of material, but closer to a record of the artist’s life. The time of the artist’s parents, who spent their lives in a ceramic village, intersects with the artist’s own gaze that translates those ceramics into painting, forming a single narrative. In this context, ceramics are no longer objects, but emerge as entities in which memory, emotion, and relational time have accumulated.
