장 쉬에루이는 베이징 중앙미술학교(CAFA) 건축학과를 졸업한 후, 중국 현대 추상미술의 떠오르는 예술가로 주목받기 시작했다. 그는 철학자의 말에서 영감을 받아 "변하지 않는 유일한 것은 변화 그 자체이다"라는 철학을 바탕으로, 매 순간의 자아 존재와 마음의 변화를 화면에 포착하여 시각적으로 표현했다.

그의 작업은 인간의 감성과 모호함을 포함한 삶의 미묘한 관계를 추상예술의 불확실성과 순수한 형태로 표현하며, 복잡하고 꼼꼼한 시스템을 통해 개인화된 방법론으로 메시지를 전한다. 부분과 전체, 보편성과 특수성 사이에서 상호 보완적인 구성을 보여주는 그의 작품은 깊은 의미를 담고 있다.

장 쉬에루이는 아티스트 레지던시 북경창작센터 7기 작가로 활동했으며, 2014 Art Stage Singapore, 2012 중국식 추상 스팡아트(뒤셀도르프), '당신에게는 오직 사랑이 필요하다'(북경) 등 다양한 단체전과 개인전을 통해 활발히 활동하고 있다. 주로 중국에서 활동하며 최근에는 스위스와 한국 등 세계로 활동 무대를 넓혀가고 있다.

Zhang Xuerui, a graduate of the Architecture Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing, has emerged as a rising star in Chinese contemporary abstract art. Inspired by the words of a philosopher, he embodies the philosophy that “the only constant is change itself,” capturing the transformations of the self and the mind in each moment through his work.

His art portrays the subtle relationships of life, such as human emotion and ambiguity, through the uncertainties of abstract art and pure form. The messages conveyed through his highly detailed and complex system are personalized, with a complementary balance between parts and whole, universality and specificity.

Zhang has participated in various group exhibitions and solo shows, including the Artist Residency at the Beijing Creation Center (Session 7), 2014 Art Stage Singapore, 2012 Chinese Abstract Spang Art (Düsseldorf), and the exhibition "You Only Need Love" (Beijing). Primarily based in China, he has recently expanded his artistic reach to Switzerland, Korea, and other parts of the world.
