주변 인물들을 지속적으로 그리는 이유는 작가가 살아가며 관계 맺은 사람들을 기록한다는 의미에서 이어지고 있는 ‘프렌즈(Friends)’ 시리즈와 맞닿아 있다. 동양적인 초상화 개념처럼 인물은 검은색 라인으로 단순화해 표현하며, 강렬한 색채를 통해 작가만의 감성 세계를 구축한다. 그의 작품은 현재 국립현대미술관, 서울시립미술관, 로얄컴퍼니 사옥, 박영덕화랑 등에 소장되어 있다.

Yoon Gi Won, who graduated from the Department of Painting at Hongik University in 2003, creates portraits that capture the lives and stories of people he has encountered, drawing inspiration from personal relationships expressed through intense colors. For Yoon, color is not merely a visual element but also a vehicle for emotional expression. When portraying a person, he closely observes not only the subject but also their surroundings, integrating the individual’s thoughts and emotions alongside his own feelings at the time. This process leads him to choose unconventional colors, resulting in works marked by striking and powerful palettes.

His continued focus on portraying people around him is embodied in the ongoing “Friends” series, which serves as a record of relationships formed throughout his life. Echoing the sensibility of traditional East Asian portraiture, figures are outlined with black lines, while vivid colors convey his distinctive emotional world. His works are held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, the Royal & Company headquarters, and Park Youngduk Gallery.
