YANG SANG HOON
양상훈 작가는 홍익대학교 미술대학과 동 대학원을 졸업했다. 졸업과 동시에 가구 디자이너로 대형 백화점에서 인테리어 및 디스플레이 디자이너로 근무하며 실무 경험을 쌓았다.
그러나 그는 어린 시절부터 품어온 작가의 꿈을 이루기 위해 9년간의 직장 생활을 마무리하고 전업 작가로서의 삶을 시작했다. 장르나 특정 현대미술 사조에 얽매이지 않고, 오롯이 작업에 몰두하며 자신만의 조형 언어를 구축해 나가고 있다.
특히 우리 고유의 재료인 한지를 활용한 평면 작업에 깊은 관심을 두고 있으며, 누구나 공감할 수 있는 한국적 정서가 담긴 작품 세계를 지속적으로 펼쳐오고 있다. 다수의 개인전과 단체전을 통해 작업을 선보였으며, 그의 작품은 CJ 그룹, 홍익대학교 미술박물관, 상명대학교 미술박물관, 일본 MA 갤러리, 영동세브란스병원 등에 소장되어 있다.
Yang Sang Hoon graduated from Hongik University College of Fine Arts and completed his graduate studies at the same institution. Upon graduation, he worked as a furniture designer as well as an interior and display designer for major department stores, gaining extensive professional experience.
Determined to pursue his long-held dream of becoming an artist, he brought his nine-year corporate career to a close and began his life as a full-time artist. Free from the constraints of specific genres or contemporary art movements, he devotes himself fully to his practice, focusing on the development of his own visual language.
He has shown particular interest in flat works using hanji, Korea’s traditional paper, through which he expresses a distinctly Korean sensibility that resonates with a wide audience. Through numerous solo and group exhibitions, Yang has presented his evolving body of work, which is now held in collections including CJ Group, Hongik University Museum of Art, Sangmyung University Museum of Art, MA Gallery in Japan, and Yeongdong Severance Hospital.
