타케루 아마노(Takeru Amano)는 ‘점과 선으로 만들어낸 간결함의 미학’이라고 말하는 팝아트 작가로, 일본, 파리, 홍콩 등에서 개인전과 그룹전을 통해 활발히 활동하고 있다. 그는 주로 회화와 판화, 조각을 다루며 그래픽 디자이너로도 활동하고 여러 유명 브랜드와 협업한 바 있다.

타케루 아마노는 10살 무렵 도쿄의 한 백화점에서 열린 키스 해링의 전시를 보고 큰 감명을 받았다. 그래피티 아티스트인 해링이 가게 벽에 그림을 그렸기 때문에 어린 타케루는 종이 위에 그림을 그리는 대신 인근 수영장 벽면에 꽃을 스프레이로 칠했고, 이것이 그의 화려한 커리어의 시작이었다.

픽토그램 같은 간결한 선과 강렬한 원색, 재치와 유머가 넘치는 표현이 특징인 키스 해링의 작품과 타케루 아마노의 작품은 닮아 있다. 2020년 그는 첫 번째 아트북 <Icons>을 출간하며 전 세계적으로 국제적 인지도를 쌓았고, 현재까지 활발히 전시 활동을 이어가고 있다. 2022년 한국에서 열린 키아프(KIAF)와 화랑미술제에도 참가하며 한국 미술 시장에 이름을 알렸으며, 특히 그의 <Venice> 시리즈 원화 작품과 판화 작품은 큰 사랑을 받고 있다.

Takeru Amano is a pop artist who describes his work as “the aesthetics of simplicity created through dots and lines.” He is actively exhibiting in Japan, Paris, Hong Kong, and elsewhere, handling painting, printmaking, and sculpture, while also working as a graphic designer and collaborating with numerous well-known brands.

At the age of 10, Takeru Amano was deeply inspired by a Keith Haring exhibition held at a department store in Tokyo. Since Haring, a graffiti artist, painted on the store walls, young Takeru sprayed flowers on the nearby swimming pool walls instead of drawing on paper—marking the beginning of his vibrant career.

His works, like Haring’s, are characterized by pictogram-like simple lines, bold primary colors, and playful, humorous expressions. In 2020, he published his first art book <Icons>, gaining international recognition. He continues to actively exhibit worldwide and participated in Korea’s KIAF and Gallery Art Fair in 2022, gaining attention in the Korean art market. His <Venice> series, including original and print works, is especially well-loved.
