이기봉은 서울대학교 미술대학과 동 대학원에서 회화를 전공하며 깊이 있는 예술적 탐구를 시작했다. 1968년 인공갤러리에서 개인전을 시작으로, 국내외에서 다수의 단체전에 참여하며 널리 알려졌다. 1986년 대한민국미술대전 대상, 1994년 토탈미술대전 미술상을 수상하며 그의 작품은 높은 평가를 받았다.

Rhee began his artistic journey by studying painting at Seoul National University’s College of Fine Arts and its graduate school, where he developed a deep artistic exploration. His career officially began in 1968 with a solo exhibition at the In-Gong Gallery, and he later gained recognition by participating in numerous group exhibitions both domestically and internationally. In 1986, he won the Grand Prize at the Korea Art Exhibition, and in 1994, he received the Art Award at the Total Art Exhibition, earning significant recognition for his work.
