박상미는 무채색의 수묵과 원색의 색채를 대비하여 독특한 화풍을 구축한 작가이다. 그의 작품 속에는 화려한 색감이 넘치지만, 동시에 강인하게 뿌리내린 무채색의 식물들이 숨어 있다. 이는 양면성이 극대화되는 이 세상의 이치를 반영하는 듯하지만, 박상미는 작품을 통해 가능성과 밝은 미래를 제시하고자 한다.

희망과 믿음을 상징하는 녹색과 환희, 따뜻함을 의미하는 붉은색의 보색 대비를 통해 관객은 밝고 힘찬 에너지를 받는다. 그는 끝없이 확장되는 도시 속에서 영구적으로 안정적인 장소는 존재하지 않으며, 실재적이고 영원한 존재는 외부가 아닌 내부의 문제라고 말한다. 화면 속 강인한 생명력을 지닌 식물들은 마음속의 소중한 장면들을 담아내며 희망과 빛을 표현한다.

박상미는 이화여자대학교 동양화과 및 동 대학원을 졸업했으며, 2006년 한국미술대전 한국화 부문 대상을 수상했다. 인사아트센터, 서호미술관, 한전프라자 등에서 개인전을 개최했고, 서울문화재단, 경기문화재단, 한국문화예술위원회의 지원을 받아 활동해왔다. 학고재 컬렉션전, 이화익갤러리, KIAF 등 다수의 단체전과 Art Singapore 2010(Suntec, Singapore) 등 여러 아트페어에 참여했으며, 그의 작품은 국립현대미술관, 경기도미술관, 성남아트센터, 랜덤하우스 코리아 등에 소장되어 있다.

Park Sang Mi is an artist who has developed a distinctive visual language by contrasting monochromatic ink tones with vivid primary colors. While her works are filled with brilliant hues, resilient colorless plants remain firmly rooted within the compositions. This coexistence reflects the intensified duality of the world, yet Park ultimately seeks to present a vision of possibility and a hopeful future through her paintings.

Through the complementary contrast of green, symbolizing hope and faith, and red, representing joy and warmth, her works radiate bright and powerful energy. Park reflects on the endlessly expanding city, asserting that no place can remain permanently stable and that what is real and enduring lies not in external conditions but within oneself. The vigorous plants depicted in her paintings embody treasured inner moments, expressing light, hope, and resilient vitality.

Park Sang Mi received her BFA and MFA in Oriental Painting from Ewha Womans University and won the Grand Prize in the Korean Painting category at the Korea Fine Arts Exhibition in 2006. She has held solo exhibitions at venues including Insa Art Center, Seoho Museum of Art, and KEPCO Plaza, and has been supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, and Arts Council Korea. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and art fairs such as Hakgojae Collection Exhibition, Gallery Yeh, KIAF, and Art Singapore 2010 at Suntec, Singapore. Her works are held in collections including the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Seongnam Arts Center, and Random House Korea.
