박형진은 중앙대학교 서양화과와 동 대학원을 졸업하고, 1996년 첫 개인전을 시작으로 20여 회의 개인전과 다수의 단체전에 참여하며 동심을 주제로 한 작품들을 선보여왔다. 그의 그림은 주변 일상을 다정하고 따뜻하게 담아내며, 대표작으로는 ‘새싹 시리즈’, ‘허그 시리즈’, ‘새랑 시리즈’ 등이 있다.

강아지, 아이, 어린싹, 물고기, 새 등이 주로 등장하는 작품 속 세상은 평면적이고 탈원근법적인 기법으로 표현되어 위도와 아래가 없는 평화로운 공간을 보여준다. 이러한 이미지들은 보는 사람에게 편안함과 순수한 감동을 선사한다. 그의 작품은 부산시립미술관 등에 소장되어 있으며, ‘비밀의 정원’, ‘빅허그’, ‘너와 함께’ 등 그림책 작업도 진행했다.

2024년 개인전 ‘비터스윗 BitterSweet’에서는 달콤함과 쓴맛이 공존하는 상반된 감정을 작가 특유의 정서로 표현했다. 작품 속 작은 아이가 새들과 함께 정원을 가꾸고 놀며, 동화적 상상력과 순수한 세계관이 한층 강화된다.

Park Hyung Jin graduated from the Department of Western Painting at Chung-Ang University and completed graduate studies at the same institution. Since his first solo exhibition in 1996, he has held over 20 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions, presenting works centered on childlike wonder.

His paintings, featuring dogs, children, young sprouts, fish, and birds, depict a harmonious world without top or bottom, realized through flat and non-perspectival techniques. These compositions offer viewers a sense of peace and gentle delight. His works are held in the Busan Museum of Art and he has also created illustrated books such as Secret Garden, Big Hug, and With You.

In his 2024 solo exhibition BitterSweet, Park expresses the coexistence of sweet and bitter emotions through his unique sensibility. Small children interacting with birds and tending to gardens further enhance the fairy-tale-like imagination and innocent worldview in his work.
