박광열 작가는 세종대학교 회화과를 졸업한 후 일본 다마미술대학교 대학원에서 동판화를 전공하며 독창적인 작품 세계를 구축해온 판화가이다. 판화의 본질에 충실한 태도를 유지하면서도 새로운 표현 가능성을 꾸준히 탐구하고 있다.

그는 잉크나 물감 대신 코튼 펄프를 물에 불려 찢어 사용하는 등 실험적인 재료와 기법을 통해 판화의 확장된 표현을 시도한다. 이러한 작업 방식은 전통적인 판화의 개념을 유지하면서도 재료의 물성과 과정 자체를 작품의 중요한 요소로 끌어들인다.

박광열의 작품은 한국의 전통과 현대적 감성을 결합해 자연과 인간, 사회적 이슈를 폭넓게 다룬다. 판화 전문 갤러리 김래현 화랑과 현대 아트갤러리 등에서 개인전을 개최했으며, 국립현대미술관, 학고재, 서울 판화비엔날레 등 다양한 판화 단체전에 참여했다. 그의 작업은 판화가협회 공모전 우수상과 일본판화협회전 신인상 등을 수상하며 그 가치를 인정받았고, 독자적인 시각 언어로 한국 판화의 발전에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다.

Park Gwang Yeol is a printmaker who has developed a distinctive artistic language after graduating from the Department of Painting at Sejong University and completing his graduate studies in copperplate printmaking at Tama Art University in Japan.

Remaining faithful to the essence of printmaking, he finds enjoyment in experimenting with diverse techniques and materials. In some works, he replaces ink or paint with cotton pulp soaked in water and torn apart, expanding the expressive possibilities of printmaking through material-based exploration.

His practice integrates Korean tradition with contemporary sensibilities, addressing themes that range from nature and humanity to broader social issues. Park has held solo exhibitions at print-specialized spaces such as Kim Raehyun Gallery and Hyundai Art Gallery, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions including those at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Hakgojae Gallery, and the Seoul Print Biennale. His achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Excellence Prize from the Printmakers Association and the Newcomer Award at the Japan Print Association Exhibition, positioning him as an important contributor to the advancement of Korean printmaking.
