2013년부터 사진 작업을 시작한 이우준은 서울예술대학교에서 사진을 전공한 후 활발히 활동하고 있다. 다채로운 감수성을 지닌 그는 2019년부터 한국의 풍경을 작품에 담아 왔으며, 사진 매체의 다양한 기록 방식을 통해 자연 풍경을 담는 행위에 집중해 왔다. 단순히 대지를 기록하는 데서 나아가, 지형지물의 인위적인 변형을 통해 실존과 허상 사이의 이미지를 만들어내는 데 관심을 두고 있다.

그는 흑백 필름으로 자연을 기록하기 시작해 현재는 디지털과 필름, 그리고 여러 이미지를 합성하는 방식 등 다양한 방법으로 이미지를 생산한다. <Form of View> 시리즈는 과거 우리 조상들이 바라보았던 시각을 엿보고자 시작된 작업으로, 수년간 한국의 고전적 풍경을 찾아 탐색하며 이어져 왔다.

날씨와 계절의 변화에 따라 달라지는 자연 속 공간을 바라보고, 이를 카메라와 후작업을 통해 유사한 분위기의 이미지로 재구성한다. 이러한 과정은 글과 화폭을 통해 접했던 과거의 삶을 오늘날의 시각으로 다시 구상하는 행위이며, 정확히 존재하지 않는 당시의 색감과 공기, 촉감, 건축물을 복각한 이미지들은 허상으로서 존재한다.

Lee Woo Joon began working with photography in 2013 and studied photography at Seoul Institute of the Arts. Since 2019, he has been actively capturing Korean landscapes, focusing on the act of recording nature through diverse photographic methods. Moving beyond straightforward documentation of land, he explores the production of images that exist between reality and illusion through the artificial transformation of terrain and geographical features.

Starting with black-and-white film, he now produces images using a variety of approaches, including digital photography, film, and composite imagery. The <Form of View> series began as an attempt to glimpse the way landscapes were perceived by people in the past, and has involved years of searching for and exploring classical Korean scenery.

By observing natural spaces as they change with weather and seasons, he reconstructs similar atmospheres through photography and post-processing. This process reimagines past lives once encountered through texts and paintings from a contemporary perspective. The recreated images—of colors, air, textures, and architecture that no longer precisely exist—remain as illusions rather than concrete realities.
