이선화는 이화여자대학교와 홍익대학교에서 석사 과정을 마쳤으며, 20여 차례의 개인전과 런던, 뉴욕, 상하이, 홍콩, 터키, 프랑스 루브르박물관 등 100여 회에 이르는 국내외 단체전에 참여하며 활발한 작품 활동을 이어오고 있다.

그의 그림을 관통하는 핵심은 생명력이다. 자연과 인간, 그리고 존재의 에너지를 폭발할 듯한 색채로 표현하며, 작품에서 색은 결정적인 요소로 작용한다. 그는 “컬러 테라피, 즉 색채에는 치유 효과가 있다고 믿는다”며, 자신의 그림과 소통하는 이들에게 생명력과 에너지를 전하고 싶다고 말한다.

한국의 전통색인 오방색을 주로 사용하는 그는 청·적·황·백·흑의 색이 서로 충돌하며 카오스와 코스모스, 즉 혼돈과 질서를 동시에 만들어낸다. 화려하면서도 거친 작가 특유의 기법은 화면에 강한 역동성과 생기를 부여한다. 키아프, 화랑미술제, 롯데호텔아트페어, 부산국제화랑미술제 등의 단체전과 국회의사당 아트 갤러리, 현대백화점, 갤러리 박영 등에서의 개인전을 통해 작품 세계를 더욱 심화해 가고 있다.

Lee Sunhwa completed her master’s degrees at Ewha Womans University and Hongik University, and has maintained an active practice through more than twenty solo exhibitions and over one hundred group exhibitions held in Korea and abroad, including in London, New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Turkey, and at the Louvre Museum in France.

The core that runs through her work is vitality. She expresses the life force of nature, humanity, and existence itself through colors that seem ready to burst with energy. Color plays a decisive role in her paintings. As she states, “I believe in color therapy—that color has a healing effect. I want to give vitality and energy to everyone who engages with my work.”

Primarily using the traditional Korean palette of obangsaek, she allows blue, red, yellow, white, and black to collide, creating both chaos and cosmos—disorder and order at once. Her vivid yet rugged technique conveys a strong sense of dynamism and liveliness. Through participation in group exhibitions such as KIAF, the Hwarang Art Fair, Lotte Hotel Art Fair, and the Busan International Art Fair, as well as solo exhibitions at venues including the National Assembly Art Gallery, Hyundai Department Store, and Gallery Park Young, she continues to deepen and expand her artistic world.
