이숙자는 중앙대학교에서 시각디자인을 전공하고 아시아 패키지디자인 어위드, 팩스타상 최고상 수상 등을 수상했다. 각각의 디자인 분야와 회화 작품에서 ‘Modern & Classic’이라는 주제로 작업한다.

한국의 전통 그림에서 현대적인 모티브를 찾아내고 재해석하여 새롭게 구성하는 작업을 지속해오고 있다. 초자연주의 감성에 구상적 그래픽아트의 결합은 과거와 현대를 잇는 새로운 시도가 되기도 한다. 그는 마치 뜰 안 화단에 꽃을 심고 가꾸듯 우리의 서정적인 화초이야기를 컴포지션 판화로 화면에 재구성하고 있다.

회화와 디자인의 경계를 허물어 새로운 장르를 구축하는 의미가 있다. 한국적인 것이 세계적일 수 있다는 기대와 함께 상해, 북경 등 해외 전시 준비에 박차를 가하고 있다.

Lee Sukja majored in visual design at Chung-Ang University and has received awards such as the Asia Package Design Award and the Packstar Grand Prize. She works under the theme “Modern & Classic” across various fields of design as well as in her painting practice.

She continues to create works that discover modern motifs within traditional Korean painting and reinterpret them into new compositions. The combination of a supernatural sensibility with figurative graphic art becomes a new attempt to connect the past and the present. As if planting and nurturing flowers in a garden courtyard, she reconstructs lyrical stories of flowers into compositional prints on the picture plane.

Her practice holds significance in breaking down the boundaries between painting and design to establish a new genre. With the expectation that what is Korean can also be global, she is actively preparing for overseas exhibitions in cities such as Shanghai and Beijing.
