권수현은 세종대학교 회화과를 졸업하고 동 대학원을 수료했다. 2010년 단원미술제와 경향미술대전에 입선했으며, 2009년에는 아시아프(ASYAAF)에서 입상했다. 2011년 서울옥션 커팅엣지 작가로 선정되어 서울과 부산에서 전시를 열었고, 홍콩 경매에서도 좋은 반응을 얻었다.

Kwon Soo Hyun graduated from the Department of Painting at Sejong University and completed graduate studies at the same institution. He was selected for the Danwon Art Exhibition and the Kyunghyang Art Competition in 2010, and received recognition at ASYAAF in 2009. In 2011, he was chosen as a Cutting Edge artist by Seoul Auction, exhibiting in Seoul and Busan and receiving positive responses at auctions in Hong Kong.

The elephant character, a symbol of the artist’s self, appears repeatedly in his work, transformed through various variations and patterns. His creative process centers on the themes of the “power of positivity” and “happiness,” functioning as a kind of wish or aspiration for things to turn out well. Mosaic-like compositions filled with vivid colors represent fragments of small happiness captured in daily life, while paths painted in gold symbolize the journey of life.

The artist’s preference for simplicity, clarity, and directness is clearly reflected in his work. As he states, “Sincerity needs no embellishment. I entrust everything to the steadfast elephant and work,” Kwon Soo Hyun speaks of hope by filling achievable dreams with sensuous yet lucid colors.
