김목인은 한결같은 목소리로 노래하는 음악가로, 오랜 시간 나일론 기타 한 대로 모두의 일상에 스며드는 노래를 불러왔다. 담백하고 절제된 그의 음악은 과장 없이 조용히 말을 건네듯, 듣는 이의 마음에 천천히 닿는다.

그는 ‘캐비넷 싱얼롱즈’의 멤버로 2006년 <리틀 팡파레(Little Fanfare)>를 발표했으며, ‘집시앤피쉬 오케스트라’의 멤버로도 활동해왔다. 2010년부터는 솔로 활동을 병행하며, 2002년 첫 레코딩 음반 <안녕하세요, 카바레 사운드입니다>를 발매했다. 수록곡 ‘장기입원환자의 꿈’은 충주 고향집에서 녹음된 피아노 연주곡으로, <가정용 피아노를 위한 프로젝트>라는 이름으로도 발표되었다.

2011년 솔로 1집 <음악가 자신의 노래>를 발표하며 ‘음악가의 음악가’라는 평가를 받았고, 이후 <군산추억>, <사려깊은 밤> 등의 싱글과 <콜라보씨의 일일>, <다시, 봄>, <한다발의 시선> 등 다수의 정규 앨범을 발표했다. 그는 이 앨범을 통해 모든 것에 가격이 매겨지는 시대에도 끝내 값을 매길 수 없는 음악과 음악가라는 존재에 대해 노래한다고 밝힌 바 있다. 또한 에세이 <직업으로서의 음악가>를 펴냈으며, 아트앤프린트스튜디오와의 협업을 통해 그림 선물 프로젝트에도 참여했다.

Kim Mok In is a musician who sings with a steady, unchanging voice, sharing songs that quietly flow into everyday life with nothing more than a nylon-string guitar. His music, free from exaggeration, carries a plain yet resonant depth that reveals itself more fully with each listen.

He debuted as a member of Cabinet Sing-Alongs with the release of <Little Fanfare> in 2006 and has also been active as part of the Gypsy & Fish Orchestra. Alongside his group activities, Kim began pursuing solo work in 2010, releasing his first recorded album, <Hello, This Is Cabaret Sound>, originally recorded in 2002. The track “Dream of a Long-Term Patient,” a piano piece recorded at his family home in Chungju, was later presented as part of the <Project for a Home Piano>.

With the release of his first solo album <The Musician’s Own Song> in 2011, Kim earned admiration from fellow musicians and came to be known as a “musician’s musician.” Through this work, he expressed his belief that even in a world where everything is assigned a price, music—and the life of a musician—remains beyond valuation. He has since released several singles, including <Gunsan Memories> and <A Thoughtful Night>, as well as full-length albums such as <Colabossi’s Day>, <Again, Spring>, and <A Handful of Gazes>. In addition to his musical work, Kim is the author of the essay <Music as a Profession> and has participated in art gift projects through collaborations with Art & Print Studio.
