김정선은 조선대학교 일반대학원 순수미술 회화과를 졸업했으며, 18회의 개인전과 90여 회의 단체전에 참여했다. 2013년부터 시작된 ‘여행자’ 시리즈는 낯선 사람들과의 공간에서 각자가 누리는 자유로움과 휴식을 담아낸 카페 풍경에서 출발한 사실주의 회화이다.

저마다 다른 카페의 향기와 분위기는 작가의 작업 속에서 또 하나의 색채로 옮겨지며, 제2의 작업 공간으로 재탄생한다. 그는 작업에 앞서 ‘머리를 비운다’는 마음으로 주변 골목길을 배회하는 습관이 있는데, 가보지 않았던 새로운 공간과의 만남이 신선함과 동시에 두려움을 동반한 호기심을 불러일으키기 때문이라고 말한다.

그의 작품은 광주시립미술관, 한국사진사연구소, SHC중공업, 국제자산투자신탁, TYM 동양물산 Co., 신풍제지, EG건설, 세안이엔씨 등 여러 기관에 소장되어 있다.

Kim Jeong Seon graduated from the Department of Painting in the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Chosun University. He has held 18 solo exhibitions and participated in over 90 group exhibitions. His “Traveler” series, which began in 2013, is a realist body of work that originates from café scenes depicting the sense of freedom and relaxation enjoyed by individuals in shared spaces with unfamiliar people.

The distinct atmosphere and scent of each café are translated into different hues within his work, transforming them into a second creative space. Prior to working, he has a habit of wandering through nearby alleyways as a way of “clearing his mind,” explaining that encounters with unfamiliar places generate a sense of freshness accompanied by a curious tension.

His works are included in the collections of institutions such as the Gwangju Museum of Art, the Korean Institute of Photographic History, SHC Heavy Industries, International Asset Trust, TYM Tongyang Moolsan Co., Shinpoong Paper, EG Construction, and Seahn ENC.
