전영진은 ‘회화’라는 장르 자체를 탐구하는 전업 작가로, 홍익대학교 미술대학 회화과 및 동 대학원을 졸업한 이후 십여 년간 <Canvas Play>와 <Painting for Painting> 시리즈를 통해 자신만의 회화 세계를 구축해왔다. 그의 작업은 회화의 본질과 가능성에 대한 지속적인 질문에서 출발한다.

색과 반듯한 기하학적 도형으로 번역된 요소들이 만들어내는 픽셀 풍경은 작가의 시간을 관통하는 주요 회화적 주제다. 반복적인 패턴과 기하학적 구성, 그리고 리드미컬한 변주를 통해 그는 ‘회화’를 확장된 시각 언어의 세계로 재창조한다.

전영진은 자연과 사람, 책과 공간, 언어 등 다양한 대상에서 영감을 얻으며, 삼차원의 세계를 이차원의 평면에 담아내는 과정 속에서 회화 그 자체에 대한 사유를 멈추지 않는다. 대상의 특징을 점·선·면과 같은 기하학적 형태로 단순화해 차가운 추상으로 표현하는 방식은 회화의 작용과 구조를 탐구하려는 그의 예술적 의지를 드러낸다. 그의 작품은 롯데호텔, 코오롱, 현도종합건설 등에 소장되어 있다.

Jun YoungJin is a full-time artist dedicated to exploring the medium of painting itself. After graduating from the Department of Painting and its graduate program at Hongik University, he has developed his own painterly language over more than a decade through the <Canvas Play> and <Painting for Painting> series.

Pixelated landscapes composed of color and precise geometric forms constitute a central theme running through his practice. Through repetitive patterns, geometric structures, and rhythmic variations, Jun reimagines painting as an expanded visual world, pushing the boundaries of the genre.

Drawing inspiration from nature, people, books, spaces, and language, Jun continuously reflects on painting while translating the three-dimensional world onto a two-dimensional surface. His artistic approach—simplifying the characteristics of subjects into geometric elements such as points, lines, and planes, and rendering them as cool abstraction—reveals a sustained inquiry into the essence and operation of painting. His works are held in collections including Lotte Hotel, Kolon, and Hyundo General Construction.
