유혜영은 HolaHye라는 이름으로 활동하는 예술가이자 디자이너, 작가로 스페인을 기반으로 활동하고 있다. 서울 숙명여자대학교에서 산업디자인을 전공하고, 바르셀로나 엘리사바 디자인 학교(ELISAVA)에서 석사 과정을 마쳤으며, 졸업 후에는 모교에서 7년간 강의했다.

그는 예술가이자 디자이너로서 서울, 바르셀로나, 마드리드, 상하이, 밀라노, 베를린 등 여러 도시에서 전시를 열었고, 전시 커미셔너로서도 현대 컬처 프로젝트, 서울디자인페스티벌, design MADE 등 다양한 활동을 이어왔다.

2022년부터는 HolaHye라는 새로운 작가명으로 일상에 뿌리내린 기억과 이미지, 인물을 재해석하는 작업을 전개하며 ‘모방꾼(Mimetic Person)’이라는 주제의 초상화 시리즈를 이어가고 있다. 디지털 작업과 아크릴 회화를 오가며 동일한 이미지를 반복적으로 다시 그리는 방식을 통해 작품 간의 소통을 시도하고, 이전에 그린 그림을 젯소로 지운 뒤 추상적 터치를 덧입히는 ‘지우고 덧그리는 작업’을 통해 시간의 흐름과 축적의 과정을 탐구한다.

HolaHye, also known as Hye-Young Yoo, is an artist, designer, and writer based in Spain. She studied industrial design at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul and completed her master’s degree at ELISAVA, Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, where she later taught for seven years.

As both an artist and designer, she has held exhibitions in cities including Seoul, Barcelona, Madrid, Shanghai, Milan, and Berlin. She has also been actively involved as an exhibition commissioner, working on projects such as Contemporary Culture Projects, Seoul Design Festival, and design MADE.

Since 2022, working under the name HolaHye, she has been developing a portrait series titled “Mimetic Person,” reinterpreting memories, images, and figures rooted in everyday life. Employing a wide range of materials, she recently focuses on creating dialogue between works through repetition—redrawing the same image in both digital and acrylic formats. Additionally, through a process of erasing previous paintings with gesso and layering new abstract gestures, she explores the passage of time, continuity, and the act of accumulation.
