한정희는 고 한봉덕 화가의 딸로 태어나 어린 시절부터 자연스럽게 그림에 매료되었다. 이화여고 재학 시절 ‘프레스센터’에서 열린 4인 전시에 초대되며 최연소로 미술계에 입문했고, 이후 유학을 통해 서양화를 전공하며 예술적 기반을 다졌다.

1979년 스웨덴에서 첫 전시를 열며 본격적인 작가 활동을 시작한 그는, 유학 시절 겪은 어려운 경험을 통해 타인의 고통에 깊이 공감하게 되었다. 이러한 경험은 사회 환원과 이웃에 대한 관심으로 이어져, 특히 입양 아동을 돌보는 단체에서 이사장으로 활동하는 등 실천적인 삶의 태도를 보여주었다.

한정희는 꽃과 자연을 매개로 대중과 소통하며, 자신의 감정과 철학을 섬세한 붓 터치와 색감으로 표현한다. 그는 자신의 작업을 “어떤 사물을 보고 그리는 것이 아니라, 하얀 벽면에 영혼이 깃든 추상을 만들어가는 과정”이라고 설명하며 인간과 자연의 교감을 추구한다. 그의 작품은 시각적 아름다움을 넘어 치유와 공감을 이끌어내며, 자연 속에 담긴 사랑의 메시지로 관객에게 포근한 울림을 전한다.

Han Jeong Hee was drawn to art from an early age under the influence of her father, the late painter Han Bong Deok. While attending Ewha Girls’ High School, she entered the art world at a remarkably young age after being invited to participate in a four-artist exhibition held at the Press Center. She later pursued studies in Western painting abroad, establishing a solid artistic foundation.

Beginning her professional career with her first exhibition in Sweden in 1979, Han’s experiences during her years abroad fostered a deep empathy for the suffering of others. This sensitivity led to a strong commitment to social contribution, including her role as chairperson of an organization dedicated to supporting adopted children.

Using flowers and nature as mediators, Han communicates with audiences through paintings that express her emotions and philosophy with delicate brushwork and refined color palettes. She describes her work as “not painting objects, but creating abstract spaces where the soul resides upon a white surface,” seeking a dialogue between humanity and nature. Her paintings transcend visual beauty, offering healing and compassion, and embrace viewers with messages of love embedded within the natural world.
