Du Jie, born in Hubei Province and currently based in Beijing, is an artist who is actively engaged in his work. His paintings boldly express the thoughts and external phenomena he experiences in life, showing the profound and vast literary color of China’s artistic style.

Scenes in his works resemble the tranquil and beautiful Shangri-La that every generation in Chinese history has aspired to. The paintings radiate with intense sunlight and an overwhelming sense of desire. Rather than focusing on the secular, Du Jie strives for an idealistic world, reflecting his personal uniqueness and independent thinking. His works convey a sense of cynicism, integrity, reverence for nature, and a deep attachment to and continuity with traditional culture.

Du Jie is on a difficult path to developing traditional Chinese painting, but he is not alone. His teacher Liu Mu, along with many other artists, continues to carry on the traditions of Chinese art while embracing the flow and context of the times. Through his artistic practice, Du Jie demonstrates that only the cultivation of traditional painting can lead to new creative paths.
