정의부는 화가의 길을 걷기 시작한 이후 한 번도 붓을 놓지 않으며 평생 회화에 몰두해 온 원로 작가이다. 홍익대학교 회화과에서 서양화를 전공한 그는 대한민국미술대전 심사위원장을 비롯해 여러 미술대전의 심사위원으로 활동하며 한국 미술계의 발전에 기여해 왔다.

대표작인 ‘새들의 노래’ 연작은 낙조, 강, 바다, 산골마을, 섬 등 다양한 자연의 배경 속에서 수많은 철새들의 힘찬 비상을 모던하고 세련된 조형 언어로 담아낸다. 이 작품들은 단순한 자연 풍경의 재현을 넘어, 철새들이 만들어내는 생명의 경이로움과 역동성을 화면에 응축한다.

그의 작품 앞에 서면 세월의 무상함과 더불어 미래에 대한 희망이 공존하는 감정을 마주하게 된다. 철새의 비상은 인간의 삶과 존재에 대한 진지한 성찰로 이어지며, 자연과 생명에 대한 경외감을 불러일으킨다. 정의부는 한국미술협회와 송파미술협회 고문, 아세아미술 고류회 이사 등으로 활동했으며, 여의도고등학교, 경복고등학교, 경희대학교, 경원대학교 서양화과 등에서 후학을 양성하며 한국 미술의 미래를 밝히는 데 중요한 역할을 해왔다.

Chung Eui Boo is a senior artist who has devoted his entire life to painting, never setting down his brush since embarking on the path of art. After majoring in Western painting at Hongik University, he has actively contributed to the development of Korean art, serving as chairman of the jury for the Korea Fine Arts Exhibition and as a judge for numerous national art competitions.

His representative series, “Song of Birds,” depicts the powerful flight of countless migratory birds set against diverse landscapes such as sunsets, rivers, seas, mountain villages, and islands. Rendered in a modern and refined visual language, these works transcend mere depictions of nature to capture the profound vitality and wonder of life embodied by the birds in motion.

Standing before his paintings, viewers are invited to reflect on the transience of time while simultaneously sensing a quiet hope for the future. The soaring birds evoke contemplations on human existence and life itself, inspiring reverence for nature and living beings. Chung has been actively involved in various art organizations, including serving as an advisor to the Korea Fine Arts Association and the Songpa Art Association, as well as a board member of the Asia Art Exchange Association. He has also taught at institutions such as Yeouido High School, Kyungbok High School, Kyunghee University, and Kyungwon University, dedicating himself to nurturing younger generations. His deep knowledge and experience have inspired many students and played a vital role in shaping the future of Korean art.
