‘9와 숫자들’은 대한민국 인디 밴드로, 멤버들이 숫자로 된 예명을 사용하는 독특한 정체성을 지니고 있다. 9는 보컬 송재경, 0은 기타 유정목, 3은 드럼 BOY.D, 4는 베이스 꿀버섯으로 구성되어 있으며, 네 명의 음악가는 여러 장의 정규 앨범과 다수의 싱글을 발표하며 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다.

이들은 초기에는 비판의식을 담은 음악을 만들고자 했으나, 그러한 태도가 오히려 자신들을 특정한 틀에 가두고 있음을 자각하게 되었다. 이후 보다 열린 자세로 음악에 접근하기로 결심하며, 1집 제작 이후에는 ‘머리로 만든 음악이 아닌 사람을 위한 음악’을 지향하게 되었다.

서정성을 바탕으로 다양한 스타일의 사운드를 선보인 9와 숫자들은 성공적으로 데뷔했으며, 제8회 한국대중음악상에서 최우수 모던 록 음반 부문을 수상하고, 2010년 대중음악 웹진 올해의 국내 음반 부문에도 선정되며 음악성을 인정받았다. 정규 1집 <9와 숫자들>, 2집 <보물섬>(2014), 3집 <수렴과 발산, Solitude and Solidarity>(2016), 4집 <서울시 여러분>(2019)을 차례로 발표했으며, 다양한 공연과 페스티벌을 통해 팬들과 꾸준히 소통하고 있다. 또한 아트앤프린트스튜디오와의 협업으로 그림 선물 프로젝트에도 참여했다.

9 and the Numbers is a South Korean indie band known for its unique use of numerical stage names. The band consists of 9 on vocals (Song Jae Kyung), 0 on guitar (Yoo Jung Mok), 3 on drums (BOY.D), and 4 on bass (Kkulbeoseot). Together, they have released several full-length albums and numerous singles, maintaining an active presence in the indie music scene.

Initially, the band sought to create music rooted in critical consciousness, but soon realized that such an approach confined them within a rigid framework. After completing their first album, they chose to adopt a more open attitude toward music-making, embracing the idea of creating “music for people, not music made by the head.”

Blending lyrical sensibility with a wide range of musical styles, 9 and the Numbers made a successful debut and earned critical acclaim. They won Best Modern Rock Album at the 8th Korean Music Awards and were also selected for Album of the Year by a music webzine in 2010. Their discography includes the self-titled debut album <9 and the Numbers>, followed by <Treasure Island> (2014), <Convergence and Divergence: Solitude and Solidarity> (2016), and <Dear Citizens of Seoul> (2019). Alongside album releases, they continue to engage audiences through live performances and festivals, and have also participated in an art gift collaboration project with Art & Print Studio.
